Herold Road no longer giving out the Identity of the On-Call physician
A recent decision was made by the Doctors of Herold Road to stop publishing the name of the doctor running the afterhours clinic. We understand many of you are disappointed that you can no longer identify which night your doctor is working.
The extended hours clinic is to provide care for an immediate medical problem that cannot wait until your Family Doctor’s next available appointment. Unfortunately some patients are using the extended hours for routine follow-up as it may be more convenient. This has resulted in busier walk-ins and longer waits for those with acute problems.
We recognize that when your doctor is away, there can be a wait to get an appointment with her/him. Please do not wait until the last minute to book an appointment to review your chronic medical problem.
If the medical issue is immediate enough to be seen in the extended hours and cannot wait until your Doctor’s next available appointment during regular office hours, then the doctor on call is fully capable to provide the care you need until you can see your own physician … regardless of who the doctor is.
